I can only second ... we just did this new site:
http://www.ee.ethz.ch:8888 (still in beta)

for the first time running with

-W "2,--expansion=0"

in .wmlrc ....

coupled with tidy in a post script we get fully compliant xhtml ...
wonderful ...
