Usually it also works on *BSD and Solaris then... mostly it's just about finding the right lib with the dl*() functions (on FreeBSD it's in libc). I suggest to have a look at http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi, there you can look into the man pages of a lot of operating systems (Linux, HP-UX, *BSD, Solaris, Darwin, ...).
