  I agree. But this should not deter us to put up updates to protocols.

  See it from other perspective -- I can afford such a machine and
will implement a dict-server on it. You can use your "slow box" as
client to connect to my machine requiring minimal efforts when it
comes to filtering words.

  Boss -- server is meant to be "server". Let's accept this fact. You
cannot assume Google to run its services on a 486 machine.
