Profiles are serialized pieces of configuration for persistent components (mainly tools) of a CPS instance. They are used to initialize the CPS components to setup a workable CPS portal (with document types, schemas, layouts, directories, CPSSkins themes, usw...) You can import, export, snapshot and compare profiles thanks to the portal_setup tool.
