Hi, some thoughts :

this is typically the job for a portlet. The simplest (the less work  =

for you) would be to make a text portlet. After all, it's just about  =

some HTML fragment and some JavaScript.

A more integrated way of doing this would be to make a new portlet  =

type (Social Links Portlet, Web Two Zero Portlet, whatever you like),  =

with a Generic Multiselect widget to let people choose the links they  =

wanna display.

In all cases, I don't believe this should be displayed by default,  =

because the people using CPS as a pure intranet application wouldn't  =

want it. This makes me think that we may start a new product some day  =

to cover the use-cases of communication towards the general public  =

(I'm not so found of CPSWebPublisher, because it's basically taking  =

down the major specificity of CPS, namely the workspaces/sections  =

duality). This could become a new product of its own, and I'd have a  =

few more ideas for it.

All of this is really consistent with the new theming engine. With  =

features such as uploadable local themes and an online theme bank,  we  =

could make with CPS a powerful website farm. I'd be curious to see the  =

inputs from the mailing list on this.

In the meanwhile, if the overhead of creating a new product is a pain  =

to you, a new extension profile in CPSDefault would certainly do.
