On my system I get following:
root@russell ~# ldd =
/usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/psycopg2/_psycopg.so | grep libpq.so
libpq.so.5 =3D> /usr/lib64/libpq.so.5 (0x00007fed0ed1c000)
What you could also try is to create a symlink to /usr/lib like this:
ln -s /home/postgres/7.4.13/lib/libpq.so.3 /usr/lib/libpq.so.3
For the moment I have no more ideas.
