The conversion does not explain why there is a difference of some years, see output.

This is an artefact of how DateIndex indexes dates; dates are converted to UTC, then converted to an integer by taking the year, month, hour and minutes values, discarding the seconds. In other words, timezone information is not stored and thus cannot be displayed.

When browsing a DateIndex in the ZMI, the dates shown are incorrect.  
Index searching works correctly, only the display of the dates is incorrect.

2007/04/13 13:00:00 GMT+1 shown as 2004/01/28 16:32:00 GMT
2007/04/04 18:00:00 GMT+1 shown as 2004/01/28 13:05:00 GMT
2007/04/11 09:27:42.041 GMT+1 shown as 2004/01/28 15:44:27 GMT
2007/05/11 10:00:00 GMT+1 shown as 2004/01/29 04:09:00 GMT
