I am trying to add the pyperl extension on my Sun Solaris 8 . I have
ActivePython2.2 and ActivePerl 5.8. when I run the command

python setup.py install

the installation bombs with a bunch of similar messages like:

8.0/sun4-solaris-thread-multi/CORE/libperl.a(mg.o)

and the error message as:

ld: fatal: relocations remain against allocatable but non-writable
sections
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1

Any clues on this will be appreciated.
