Hi,

I've put together some Zope, CMF and Plone rpm packages, built for Fedora Core,
which should still rebuild nicely on most (all?) rpm-based distributions. I
currently advise to use them with Fedora Core 2 test1, as it ships with python
2.3.3 by default.

The packages can be found here :
http://ftp.us.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/fedora/linux/testing/2/zope-plone/

They are are signed with my gpg key which is available on pgp.mit.edu as well
as on http://freshrpms.net/ and many mirror servers. Here is the list :

 plone-2.0-0.1.rc5.fr.noarch.rpm 19-Feb-2004 17:48 2.7M
 plone-2.0-0.1.rc5.fr.src.rpm 19-Feb-2004 17:48 2.6M
 zope-2.7.0-0.6.fr.i386.rpm 19-Feb-2004 17:55 4.7M
 zope-2.7.0-0.6.fr.src.rpm 19-Feb-2004 17:55 2.6M
 zope-cmf-1.4.2-0.2.fr.noarch.rpm 19-Feb-2004 17:52 656k
 zope-cmf-1.4.2-0.2.fr.src.rpm 19-Feb-2004 17:52 601k
 zope-debuginfo-2.7.0-0.6.fr.i386.rpm 19-Feb-2004 17:55 971k

The zope-debuginfo package contains the debugging symbols for the binary
executables, and the large size of the zope packages is due to the .pyo files
being included by "--optimise".

I've tested the setup successfully, but there is a known issue : When using
"zopectl start", there is a python traceback that I don't really understand,
although Zope seems to have started properly. Because of this, and because of
the "always 0, even on failure" exit status of zopectl, the init script says
it always succeeds even when it's not the case. If anyone knows a correction
for this issue, please let me know (a patch to my spec file would be best).

Here are the spec files and extras (patch, init and logrotate scripts) for
anyone interested in having a look :

http://freshrpms.net/packages/builds/index.html?build=zope-cmf
http://freshrpms.net/packages/builds/index.html?build=plone

General feedback (off-list of course) is very welcome.

Matthias
