For those of you using Poseidon on the Mac as a UML editor for Archetypes,
Apple just released an update to the Java implementation that makes it a
lot faster and nicer to work with (and prettier ;).

It won't be set as the default when you update, though - so here's how to
do it:

- Run Software Update from the System Preferences, and download/install
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 3 version 1.5.0_05 (if
our versioning policy ever approaches this sort of insanity, please shoot
me ;)

- Run /Applications/Utilities/Java/J2SE 5.0/Java Preferences.app

- "Use version" should be changed to "J2SE 5.0"

- Drag/drop "J2SE 5.0" to the top of the list in "Java Application Runtime
Settings"

- Click "Save" (easy to forget since this isn't standard Mac UI ;)

- Start Poseidon

- Enjoy proper font rendering and an application that is actually usable
now!

(it still takes ages to start, but is snappy when it finally gets there -
check out the scrolling, switching between models etc - much much faster)
