In the current situation, it is sadly not practical. Archgenxml has at
least three different XMI models to deal with as an input model. Plus
variants. So having one XMI format that makes all tools happy won't be
feasible.

And you'd need to import the XMI into your tool all the time, which
probably gives you an auto-generated truly horrible layout.

But: some agx developers were practically drooling on their keyboards
when thinking about putting changed in the code back into the UML
model. Roundtrip engineering and so. *That* would make it workable, as
you'd be able to put the subversioned model into .zuml. (For me,
that's far, far into the future, though: I'm happy with the current
way of working).

Agreed of course that it's sub-optimal to "standardise" per-project on
a certain tool.
