My 2 (or 4 or 5) cents... 1. atapi was introduced because it was zope3'ish and looked cool (i'm only speculating on this one) 2. Perhaps I'm being dense but I never actually saw any deprecation messages telling me public was deprecated ... if this is indeed true, it is my belief that the deprecation wasn't real to begin with 3. Seems most people who work with Archetypes nowadays don't really care whether its public or atapi or whatever So... what is my conclusion based on these 3 points? Simple, leave public and atapi both in their place (ie put atapi back into Archetypes 1.5 or whatever relevant AT release for Plone 3.0) Now here is my reasoning: As we refine and refactor Archetypes we should be building up a newer clearer and more consistent api that would not live in either place. Ultimately I believe that the good parts of Archetypes should live under the plone.* namespace package if licensing issues aren't a problem. And once this starts happening, we begin deprecating the relevant Products.Archetypes.* bits (which at the earliest would be plone 3.0 but even then thats probably too early). - Rocky ps. Hanno, I'm glad you went ahead and removed atapi, it gave everyone a chance to think about whats going on there anyhow. -- Rocky Burt ServerZen Software -- http://www.serverzen.com News About The Server (blog) -- http://www.serverzen.net _______________________________________________ Archetypes-devel mailing list Archetypes-devel-5NWGOfrQmneRv+LV9MX5uipxlwaOVQ5f@public.gmane.org https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/archetypes-devel
