What Whit said, but ... to all those who are not interested in defining 
the future of Archetypes, digging into things like ILayer and deal with 
interfaces that have interfaces: we're only talking, and this is the dev 
list. :)

I've heard the sentiment a few times that "oh my God, I'm only just 
learning Archetypes and now it may all change". That's understandable, 
but ... chill :) More or less every product, tutorial and book out there 
uses Archetypes these days. AT is still good and accepted and works and 
supports all kinds of use cases. Like all technologies, it will evolve 
along with the rest of our platforms, and we have to experiment and talk 
about how that will look, but don't think that we'll leave you in the 
dust without a clear way forward.

Archetypes will be around and will continue to be supported for a long, 
long time, by simple realities of the amount of code that uses it, and 
whatever it turns into will not be so radically different that 
everything you've learned will be useless!
