very true (I think that's an excellent summation of the actual division)...

but that view is orthogonal to what I'm suggesting, which is more of a 
method of getting us out of AT schema as we know it while preserving the 
feel of working with AT (since we've got a bunch of koolaid drinkers 
already).

maybe not orthogonal, maybe just a different direction...

if an registerType consumes some sort of data structure(class + AT 
schema) and spits out into memory a z3schema and the appropriate 
registrations, then we sort of are saying the same thing.
