TopicMapsTool / general ticle and uid questions

Hi ticle people


My first steps to implement a TopicMaps tool...

How to create and manage a topic? Here's what i do right now, please add 
some comments and corrections...


I have:
a class TopicMapsTool(PloneTool, ...)
a class Topic(TopicMapObject)
a class TopicMapObject(Persistent)

I did that same as in ztm as far by now. Probably need also ZTopic for a 
CMF content type.

I want to get a UID for my topic, so i have to call the generateUID 
method of IMSUIDManager. But where and when do i have to init an 
instance of the IMSUIDManager?

Is it correct that there is only one IMSUIDManager instance per site?
Should the tool handle the UIDManager?

...
Ok, later, after another look at the code...
The ObjectStorage handles all the UID creation and offers an interface 
to the UIDManager, right?

So the same questions as above: Should the tool init an ObjectStorage 
instance when initialized?

Probably i'm missing the point up to now - i just thought before i have 
to experiment with that i ask so you can enlighten me with these basics :)
