Concentrated UI widgets (like the pulldown menu) are really quite simple if you restric them to a minimum of features. Our goal is not to create the Big Javascript to Rule Them All, but rather small widgets that do their job properly. We already have an informal API/UI policy, but this should be better documented of course.
