"Discussion" on separate tab

I would like to place the discussions on a separate tab, for certain portal
types. I have modified viewThreadsAtBottom to check for
an action called "discussion" and if it exists, display the discussion there
instead of on the "View" tab. Can we do this on a generalized
basis? Is this something that can go into the standard Plone?
