Hey all, Just wanted to toss out some observations/ideas. If there is anything here I will work up a PLIP. I think it was Alex the other day that told some n00b to think of Plone as a web-based OS. One way to interpret this is that to a content manager, the Plone interface is like Windows Explorer: it is an interface to a file heirarchy. One of the features of Windows Explorer (and || in other OS's) is the multiple ways of viewing a folder's contents, i.e., Thumbnails, Icons, Tiles, List, Details. I suggest we incorporate this feature into Plone, as an additional "View as..." action menu. If we make this move, then folder_listing.pt is just another view on a folder, and could be added to the "View as..." list. So basically I am suggesting that we axe the "contents" and "view" tabs in favor of a "View as..." action menu. Another side effect (actually, this is how we came at this in the first place): We wouldn't need any separate photo album products: A "photo album" would just be a folder of photos with "Thumbnail" for the default view. There's a lot of implications to work out here but I will throw this out and let us talk about them together. :) chad ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: Oracle 10g Get certified on the hottest thing ever to hit the market...
