Only if you can get it to compress without killing the site for users of 
IE.

There is a bug in Internet Explorer which can cause it to lose the first 2k 
of a compressed web page. See Microsoft's knowledge base: 
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q313712 and 
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q312496

I have also seen reports which indicate that Microsoft's fix doesn't 
actually work in all situations (e.g. when using a proxy server).

There is a kludge that apparently works: put 2k of blanks in front of each  
page.
