Linking Server Drive to Plone 4

Good Day,

Is there any way of linking files from a shared drive on a server to Plone so that it doesn't have to be uploaded to the Plone's storage? This software is being used in a School and having Course Administrators  having to constantly re-uploading updated files can be a daunting task.

For example:
Instead of having to upload a Microsoft Excel sheet every of overall attendance for a particular class every week, is it possible to create a link to that particular file without having to upload it every time.(creating a hyperlink to the file which is stored on external storage)
