Current plone.app.collection lack multi path queries. So at the moment
one can search only in one subpath. Even if the new collections are
overall a big step forward: That step back in path handling is bad.

To migrate old ATTopic based sites its a must have and also my poweruser
are loving this features.

So i hacked a quick fix for them, which is ui/ux wise not nice, since
one have to enter the paths in a string field, but it works and let you
migrate old collections with mutli path queries.

See https://gist.github.com/jensens/6356051 for the simple code lines to
make it work.

Unfortunately the set of available widgets is hacked statically in
plone.formwidget.querystring.browser/input.pt - so it was not possible
to register an own nice widget here.

For me its ok to have the code in my customer project for now. If theres
a broader ok, i can add my code to plone.app.querystring.

Anyway, I think we need to rethink the path-handling. By default we have
2 different methods to add path search and even for my power users its
difficult to explain. This should be just a checkbox in the widget.

A step forward in the way how a widget could look like posted suption on
irc and can be found here:
http://plone.github.io/mockup/dev/#patterns/relateditems

Imo all widgets to select some items from the portal must have the same
look aand feel to have a consistent and good ux.

thx Jens
