In Brazil I've been talking with Alexander Loechel about an installable product that automatically scans your installation and reports whether your patchlevel is up to date. I've provided him with an example implementation we did for a client, where our continuous integration will raise a test failure as soon as a new hotfix comes out - if that hotfix is not applied. Alexander had several interesting ideas to extend and generalize that pattern. I don't know what the current status is, Alexander?
