Seems a VERY interesting add-on, but probably Andreas is right, and
keeping it separated probably will speed the development!

Looking at your code I see you are patching Plone. Probably this is
something that the Plone core could change to help: for example look
for some kind of adapter/utility, so you could rely on this and not
patching.
