I think this should be the plan for Plone. All images go in media
libraries, I have been thinking about this for a while, and I think all
Plone needs might be 3 main content types:

- (folderish) Page (can be marked as a news item or event).

- Media library. Each site will have a default media library where uploaded
files and images will end up automatically. More media libraries can be
added to a site if wanted.

- Media file (video,image,pdf,etc) that changes behaviour based on mime
type (if image, make scales, show up in the tinymce image drawer etc).

This allows us to get media (images etc) out of content space where a lot
of it doesn't belong. And using additional media folders, the flexibility
to add them in content space if appropriate.

The only real drawback I can see with using a central media folder is that
you can end up with a lot of orphaned content in them when pages are
deleted, but it wouldn't be too hard to make good tools to handle this.
