This is not a use case I have had, just brainstorming for myself here:
could it be an idea to have an "Imagefolder" that could be set (maybe in the tinymce control panel) to be either in the "root", or the sub site
(having this as the default starting point when uploading images would be even better, might save some time trying to explain to users where they saved there image which they can not find anymore….. )
