My impression is that the vast majority of deployments don't version binary
objects and so that it was an understandable omission from the blob
migration.  The upgrade step should probably have checked whether or not an
item was versioned before proceeding.

I think my client would find it hard to agree to a change that lost the
history of all of their previous edits.
