The version can be anything,the important thing is a release that can 
load old code, and export it in the future way. Think to Plone 2.5, it 
can export all the profiles and let you the migration of code to Plone 3 
less difficult :)

I think a 3.4 release should fix al issues of 3.X, and I see the 3.5 
release as a bridge from 3.X to 4.X.
