Developers manual genesis

Hello folks,

we finally managed to migrate the PHC and create a Knowledge Base (KB). Limi
is (hopefully) going to finish the new UI implementation this weekend.

We've decided to keep one main manual for developers. The UI will show the
main sections in the front page so I hope that keeping a *huge* manual won't
be too problematic.

I thought that the URL for the manual Mikko created time
ago<http://plone.org/documentation/manual/developer-manual>is ideal so
we started to move stuff to that manual. We should move
everything tagged as "<anything> manual" in the Developing for Plone section
assessment<http://www.coactivate.org/projects/plone-documentation/developing-for-plone-section-assessment>to
the appropriate section of this manual. If you disagree with something
in
that list, we can discuss it.

We have to move the stuff in the "To Be Inserted in the Manual" section to
the root of the manual. Some of these subsections were taken from other
manuals and tutorials. We have to delete these old tutorials and set
redirections to them using the Redirection
Tool<http://plone.org/documentation/kb/review-documentation/#redirection-tool>
.

The first task is to decide which will be the main sections. My own draft
proposal, in arbitrary order, looking at what we already have:

   - Content-types (archetypes and dexterity).
   - Content-types with ArchGenXML.
   - Searching and Indexing (catalog tool)
   - Generic Setup.
   - Users and Permissions.
   - Workflow.
   - Internationalization.
   - Portlets.
   - Viewlets.
   - ZCA overview with real examples.
   - Forms (CMFFormController, zope.formlib, z3c.forms)
   - Pluggable Authentication Service.
   - Debugging in Plone.
   - Testing.
   - Buildout?

Please let me know about what you think, and your availability to work on
this.
