+1 on what Gert says.
The old "listserv vs. forum" conversation...some prefer one, some prefer 
the other.
I don't go to forums, but mail comes to my inbox, that works better for me.

The solution is both options available - one example is Yahoo groups - 
the choice to receive posts as e-mails and reply same way, and to view 
posts in a forum UI.

Does the product running community.plone.org have this ability?
