Hi, I have a new project where they want to have auto build images, so far it is configured for producing vagrant, virtualbox and docker [aplha stage] images out of the same codebase. That is basically what I was talking about during the last ploneconf at the open space about distributions and installer. For me this is working really well so far, what you will need is a fast and proper setup build machine with cache for packages to speed it up. This setup is also easy extendable to build digital ocean droplets or/and openstack images. My question is now, do we want to have something like this for plone installer/images, you could even hook it up to build 'distributions'. Currently the setup is not following 'official best practices to setup plone' it is following what I consider best practices to setup plone and images, which are a bit different :). But well this is easy to change. Are we interested in something like that ?
