I don't think it changes the process much anyway - apart from the fact that 2.0.x releases will be issued on a "when needed" basis instead of having an actual deadline. The only thing that is scheduled as a "feature" for 2.0.1 is the updating of the time formats (toLocalTime/LocalizedTime mess), as this had to be done after the templates had stabilized.
