OK, did some basic testing of the Windows-specific stuff: - version.txt for the XController has conflict markers, making the About page look funny. :) - Start/stop detection still doesn't work as it should. When I've stopped Plone and click the start button, it immediately (in 3ms) flicks back to "Plone is not running". If I wait a little, it will switch the button to the correct position (10 seconds or so), but this is highly confusing. This is a 2GHz Athlon. :] - Can we have a folder "Development" in the start menu, that contains the PythonWin/Python/Plone Debug entries? Since the other icons are much more massive, people tend to "miss" it among all the others. The should only be one icon on the top level. Also, it should say Plone Controller instead of just Plone. - I made some changes to the wording in the controller, so people understand that they have to *restart* to use the emergency user. They expect it to "just work" now, which it doesn't. Committed to CVS. :) - It's not possible to use tab between the fields in the Ports and Emergency user pages. - Status and Ports entries in the menu should switch positions if it's trivial to do so. Status should be the top one of the two. Another thing I noticed while doing some Real User Testing(tm) this week: The start/stop button being the same button is very confusing, especially since it's not always reliable. There should be two buttons, like this: _______ |_Start_| Plone is running...blah _______ |_Stop__| ...and the non-relevant one should be ghosted. This way people won't double click it, and it will also be a better indicator as to whether Plone is running or not. And, I want a pony. :) -- __________________________________________________________________ Alexander Limi · Chief Architect · Plone Solutions Development · Training · Support · http://www.plonesolutions.com __________________________________________________________________ Plone Co-Founder · http://plone.org · Connecting Content ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Sleepycat Software Learn developer strategies Cisco, Motorola, Ericsson & Lucent use to deliver higher performing products faster, at low TCO. http://www.sleepycat.com/telcomwpreg.php?From=osdnemail3
