Well i do not have very much to do with installers anymore so please
don't take my opinion too serious. But imho it is a good idea to package
all the source files as tarball and build all installers from that one
source package. This makes sure that either all installers are based on
the correct source or none. Building from repository means to not know
it for sure if you have the correct version. 

So in my experience it is best to build a source tarball (once) and
generate a checksum. Then build all the installers based on this tarball
and include the checksum inside the installer.
