Both Plone-3.1-UnifiedInstaller.tar.gz and buildout are behaving superbly
for me:
 
 * Test site: install, edit buildout.cfg, buildout, start, install 23 of 25
available products (first round of 22 then NuPlone) 

  — at a glance, all fine

  — SO much easier than the pre-buildout era! 

 * Production site: backup, edit.buildout.cfg to reflect the template
changes at 
<https://dev.plone.org/plone/browser/Installers/UnifiedInstaller/trunk>, 
sudo bin/buildout -n -v 
migrate eight of eight sites from 3.1-rc1

  — some minor issues (noted prior to migration) that may relate to the
jQuery improvement  <http://plone.org/products/plone/roadmap/212> and our
third party theme product, but no show-stoppers

  — an issue with navigation of aggregated /news batches at the foot of 
<http://centrim.mis.brighton.ac.uk/news> — multiple presentations of a
single batch

  — if I can reproduce the latter on a clean/test site, then I'll pay a
visit to Trac to investigate further and if necessary, report.
