As usual there are several ways. Here are two:

You can enable folderish types as useable as a default-page. In http://localhost:8080/Plone/portal_properties/site_properties/manage_propertiesForm (ZMI > portal_properties > site_properties) add the types name to the field 'default_page_types'. Non-folderish types can always be default pages and do not have to be enabled by hand.

Go to http://localhost:8080/Plone/manage_propertiesForm (ZMI > Properties-Tab) and add a new property (type: string). As name use the id use 'layout' and as value set the id of the object.
