As (bad) luck would have it, I am in the same position today of having had to move the web site. I ran into the md5 issue as well and found the solution to be: apt-get install python-pip pip install hashlib It pays to document all the fiddly bits you need to do to install something like Plone where not all dependencies are resolved automatically.
