My $0.02... There's a line between dissenting opinion and accusatory
behavior. We need to encourage the former and discourage the latter.

We are seeing a "stop energy" [1] problem in this thread, I think. One
party was using very problematic, ad hominem, language -- directed at a
group, though not any specific individual. There is also, I think, an
acute misunderstanding of varieties of authority here, confounding
legitimate power/responsibility earned by merit and expertise with some
kind of "insider" parochial power (a straw-man fallacy at best).

It is hard work to volunteer in communities that produce useful things like
this; it is hard work to sustain the work of other volunteers. It's
difficult to see all the work that actually goes into this kind of effort.
There's not always consensus, but there should be every incentive for
cooperation when we can muster it.

Some of us (myself certainly included) should be contributing more to the
community. There are varieties of things I do not like in some "core"
directions (e.g. plone.api is too procedural for my taste), but the only
party I have to blame for things I might disagree with is myself (not for
lack of critique, but lack of contributed solution).

I think we should all at least recognize that like any software, like any
organization, like any community: there are always evolving opportunities
and challenges, and the folks contributing the most to conquering the
latter were (IMHO) getting unnecessarily skewered in this thread.
