We are also using the SilvaVersionCleanUp to keep the Data.fs small:

With this Package you can remove old Versions of Silva Documents;
after executing it you have to pack the Data.fs and the size will
decrease a lot (for me it decreased from 3.2 GB to 700 MB ;-)
I configured it with the following values:
Age of version: 30
Number of versions to be kept anyway: 10
