For the foreseeable future (1.1), XMLWidgets will be around as a 
renderer, and the xslt-stylesheets will indeed be an alternative way to 
render content, that is not used by default. Since XMLWidgets will still 
be needed for the editing (for those poor souls without kupu ;) it will 
not entirely disappear, but in post 1.1 versions, the xslt way of 
rendering may become the default. We expect it to have rather great 
performance benefits. Initial tests seem to support this.
