I'm sorry, I read 'documents' instead of 'templates'; my bad. (Not fully 
recovered yet I guess.)

The templates do not contain any non-ascii characters, the documents do.
Furthermore, the affected documents are the ones which were created 
and/or edited by our webmaster.
Documents created/edited by me do not raise any problems.
