I just tried to reproduce this by using a Silva 1.1 (trunk) on Zope 
2.7.2, with LDAPUserFolder 2.2-infrae-a installed, and logged in as the 
LDAP test user credentials you provided, this user has an author role, 
but it works just fine. Any idea what can be different on your setup 
compared to mine?
