No, it shouldn't, there's a Python 2.3 version in the package, it should 
use that for everything. Also it doesn't do anything with the registry, 
so it shouldn't mess stuff up. It does overwrite any python23.dll file 
in your Windows directory, perhaps that's somehow messing stuff up? What 
was the Python 2.3 version you had installed before? Is the .dll gone 
from your Windows dir now?
