Silva 'Unauthorized' error

Dear developpers,

We have a Silva environment where 'Authors' have access to a limited 
area of Silva. Such a user can interact with the SMI. He can use the 
'Up-tree' button to go beyond his own area, where he has rights to use 
the SMI. Obviously a new login pop-up window appears. Our 'author' does 
not have the a password here, and presses 'Cancel'

The the follow horific error message appears. Note that these 'authors' 
are basically unfamiliar with the SMI....

Any suggestion to catch this 'error' and handle it in an elegant manner 
is welcome to post it to the list, to me or to Guido at Infrae.
