Dear Developers, Awhile back during the last feature conversation about SilvaNews, Guido mentioned he wanted to change how images are pulled from news items. The change was to add an image field to the editor, instead of pulling the first available image from the document. Our environment is much more complex than this. It is possible that a news item could be included in three or four lists, and each list could use a different size image. We are basically to migrate to a completely silvanews-based news environment until this is possible. I propose that Guido's 1-image suggestion be changed so that: 1) News Items can have multiple images 2) These images are added using the news item's edit tab 3) Images can be tagged with categories/subjects. These categories would identify what purpose this image is for. Example: Our homepage (www.bethel.edu) has some news items with small thumbnail-sized images. These images would be added to the news item and tagged 'homepage' Another possibility for using multiple images would be to use silva image assets. There would be a 'lookup image' button on the news item edit tab, which would launch the asset lookup popup. New images could be added using this popup. Clicking 'place image' would add the image to the news item. The tags could be managed outside of silvanews, by adding a metadataset to silva images. Or the tags could be managed inside silvanews. Tags could be added to the service_news service. The images in a news item would be displayed one per line, and allow setting the tags per image. I haven't experimented with railroad yet, but my understanding is that you can add assets to railroad (like images) and make them available inside silva. I don't know how that works, but it seems that using silva images for this purpose would allow integration into railroad. So, what are your thoughs on this? I'm certainly willing to implement this feature, and I'd like to see it find it's way into the SilvaNews product. To that end, I want to make sure the direction I head is congruent with the goals of infrae's SilvaNews developers. Cheers, Andy
