Im definitely not seeing this on my production configuration, which is zope 
2.6. I dont have a zope 2.7 setup with zeo convenient for testing right now.

Yes

Yes, and/or for ZEO please.
DirectoryStorage is using ZEO's getExtensionMethods API, and I supect the 
problem will be there
