Release schedule (was Some structural improvements)

The only outstanding requirement before release was to get this latest code 
running on my development servers. Normally I dont like releasing code ahead 
of what I am running on my own servers, but I am aware that this has been 
holding up release. Yet another task has just pushed in to the top of my todo 
list

Ill push out a tarball labelled 'beta' sometime this weekend.
