Maybe there is already such a tool: Sylvain Viollon "Added an option to convert a database to Python 3.“ [1]
I think it works on the pickle level.
He already used it "to migrate our Zope application to Python 3, keeping our database. We updated zodbupdate to do the conversion of our databases from Python 2 to Python 3, with success.“ [2]
