That was in response to a Paul Everitt post on how to get people to  
migrate to Z3.

Not directly, but a clarification was in order to avoid any confusion  
about what was proposed (above).

Agreed, which is why it would be a new strategy worth considering  
(again, see above link and upgrade strategy).

Agreed, a point I make in the article linked above.  However, I also  
point out that (reportedly) Z3 will be much closer to pure python than  
Z2, so in some sense all work on Z3 is toward a jython compatible Zope.  
  If Z3 (or some incarnation of it) is pure python, then Z3 may be the  
first Zope which is jython/jvm compatible (though at slower than normal  
python/zope speed --- no python3000 speedups).  Perhaps that's a good  
first step and java compatibility an incentive for Z3?  Hmm...
