I've never used `WindowBox`, but `ctwm -w` has been my go-to tool for
debugging both my `.ctwmrc` and `ctwm` itself.  Admittedly, I haven't
touched either of those of late, and I just tried `ctwm -w` and it
crashed with a `BadWindow` error, but still, I'll miss it.
