Re: Fedora 40, Wayland, and ctwm

Like many of you, I've been a happy CTWM user since the 1990s.  I have
been sadly following the (mercifully) slow conversion to Wayland by
many Distros.  I run straight Debian.

Eventually, I decided to do something about it and started
investigating Wayland.

It became clear that a port of the existing CTWM code base was way
above my pay grade :-)  So, I embarked on a from-scratch implementation
of a Wayland compositor that operates like CTWM.  I think of it as a
look-a-like.

I've recently put the project up on Gitlab.  It has many rough edges
and is not yet ready for prime time.  But, I thought that some of you
may be interested.

Please forgive me if this message seems like an attempt to siphon off
users.  That is not the primary intent, although admittedly, it could
eventually happen.  The recent thread (Feb 2024) lamenting the fading
prospects of using CTWM into the future show that many of you are
actively looking for a path forward.  I am too.
